Celebrating local Zambian talent

Last week we featured Zambian fashion veteran Faith Mulenga Kabende. This week we scrolled through the 2015 Zambia Fashion Week hashtag #zedfw2015 on Twitter and gathered that Chisoma Lombe’s designs went down a storm. It’s been challenging to find up-to-date information online about Zambian fashion designers and the blossoming Zambian fashion scene. If Zambian fashion is to make a mark on the international scene this has to change. That’s something we’d love to change. We’d love to work with Zambian designers and show that great talent online… But for now, back to Chisoma’s talent…

Chisoma Lombe heads up the ChizÓ fashion label. As a former accountant who decided to pursue her fashion dream in 2013, Chisoma has a strong handle on the business side of design. She is now steadily building up her profile as a leading Zambian fashion designer. In 2013 Chisoma bought a sewing machine and employed two tailors. In July we saw Lulu Haangala in the multi way Lulu Collection (see here) and obviously Chisoma didn’t stop there, because she received the first standing ovation at Zambia Fashion Week and Twitter was abuzz with positive tweets. Her designs are bright and confident and we can’t wait to see Chisoma’s career develop.
