Apparently there has been a significant decrease in the ‘global poor’, with those classed as ‘poor’ dropping 29% to 15% since 2001. At the same time the global population classed as ‘middle-income’ doubled from 7-13%. Whatever you think, you may well find this data interesting and worth exploring.
Chart: Africans think climate change is a bigger threat than economic instability
According to a new survey by Pew Research, Africa is more concerned about climate change than economic instability and terrorism. But this article just gives the figures. It doesn’t go into what Africans can do about this concern. Do we admit that we are suffering the consequences of those developed countries who have gone before us? Do we say we are at the mercy of the west? Difficult questions. As with most things it makes sense to start with the things you can do. Could we find things we are doing to our own environment that we should fix?
